Hulled hemp seeds are the soft kernel or ‘germ’ of the hemp seed sometimes known as hearts, with the outer shell of the seed removed.
They have a delicious nutty flavour and a texture similar to a pine nut. Naturally rich in protein and healthy fats, hemp hearts are a true superfood, containing more Omega 3 than the same serving of Chia or Flax seeds.
Hulled Hemp Seed hearts are a natural source of GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid). A 30g serving of hemp hearts/hulled hemp seeds contains 132mg GLA which is the same as 3 capsules of 500mg Evening Primrose oil.
As an ingredient Hulled hemp seed hearts are very versatile and can be used in a broad range of food, from baking, sprinkling on salads, stir fry’s, soups, yogurts, cereals and breads. Hemp Hearts are also a delicious snack on their own.
Hulled hemp seeds are a great vegan protein addition to salads and can be supplied pasteurised for incorporation into prepared salads for food service.
